At approx 04:00 hrs on 14th May 2021 a significant cyber incident affected the HSE. A human-operated ‘Conti’ ransomware attack severely disabled a number of systems and necessitated the shutdown of the majority of other HSE systems.

Five months since the attack, the Health Service Executive (HSE), Ireland’s healthcare service, is still feeling the direct and indirect effects.
